Wicked Returns to AustinLong before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz.  One – born with emerald-green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood.  The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.  WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

 

Mardi Gras Austin 2012

austin mardi grasMardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday"), is the day before Ash Wednesday, which always falls 46 days before Easter.  Because it is dependent on the date of Easter, and Easter is a moveable feast, the date of Mardi Gras changes every year, too. Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Come join thousands of revelers, costumes, colors, beads and fun in downtown Austin!

 

Austin F1 Back on Track

Circuit of the AmericasCircuit of The Americas announced today that they have reached an agreement with Formula One Management that ensures the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix remains on the FIA Formula 1 World Championship race calendar. Red McCombs, chairman of McCombs Enterprises and founding partner of Circuit of The Americas stated, “Mr. Ecclestone received his check today. We want to thank the fans supporting us, the local officials and businesses that have encouraged us, the State of Texas, Circuit of The Americas’ staff and Bernie himself. I want to thank and commend Bobby Epstein for getting us across the finish line. Bobby’s perseverance and leadership kept the project on track despite unfair and unfounded criticism.”

Spicewood Fire Survivor Trying to Rebuild

Larry Williams stands beside the wood forms into which he hopes to pour the slab for his new house, replacing the one that burned in the Labor Day wildfires at Spicewood.  He's not sure whether his tools will be sufficient to the job of spreading and smoothing the concrete, and whether there will be anyone to help him.  Read more to find out how you can help...
