Day Drinkin’ With Austin Comedian Lashonda Lester

In this week’s episode of “Day Drinkin’ with Arcie Cola and Austin.com,” Arcie sits down with Austin comedian Lashonda Lester. You might know her as creator of the increasingly popular live show “Weird! True Hollywood Tales,” a comedic lecture series here in Austin about the lives and deaths of Hollywood’s most scandalous stars and starlets.

The Detroit native isn’t just a comedian and producer: She’s also run her own political magazine, spent time as an anti-war activist, and — believe it or not — managed pro wrestlers.

Her profile on the “Weird!” website explains that Lester has opened for the likes of “Earthquake, Rickey Smiley, Kyle Kinane, SNL alumnus Finesse Mitchell, Godfrey, and the legendary Grammy Award winning band Earth, Wind, and Fire.” She was also featured on national TV during Nickelodeon’s “NickMom Night Out” comedy showcase, the site adds.

It’s also worth mentioning that Lester’s comedic exploits have landed her in The Austin Chronicle and Austin Monthly, in addition to her up-close-and-personal interview with Arcie Cola. To find out what makes this woman so much fun, check out her standup online or catch her shows this weekend at The Velveeta Room. She’s going on Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 9 p.m., then again at 11 p.m.
