The Kite Festival is a 79-year old springtime tradition of building, flying and watching kites in Zilker Park. The Exchange Club of Austin is the proud founder and continuing sponsor of the Kite Festival. Want the perfect family event?...Something affordable, fun and alcohol-free? Don't miss this Festival!
The Festival's original mission was promoting creativity in children. Continusing that theme, the Exchange Club provides a free kite-making workshop on the field. All kite contest events are free and open to all with a homemade kite. The contests include highest flying, largest, smallest, most creative, strongest pulling, and a 50-yard dash. Many categories have adult and children's divisions, so everyone can join the fun.
