Austin is lucky to have available to us one of the coolest ways to tour the city?by using the Segway personal human transportation device. Remember not so long ago, when it first burst on the scene, proclaimed as ?IT? and promoted as something that was going to be bigger than the internet? Well, it fell short of all that hype, but it is still the coolest way to see downtown Austin and can go anywhere that people are able to walk.
Austin Segway Tours, 621 East Sixth, offers you a tour of the downtown area, the Texas State Capitol and the UT area after a ten minute orientation session at their headquarters and a glide along the bike paths of Town Lake so that you become comfortable using the self-balancing Segway Human Transport. When you lean forward, it goes forward and when you lean backwards, it goes back. You have to be over 12 years old and weigh between 100pounds and 265 pounds to be able to rent the Segway HT. Tours depart daily at 9:30am and 4pm and last about three hours as you glide around central Austin.
