Sumner Erickson and The Texcentrics Release Debut CD

TexcentricsSumner Erickson and The Texcentrics Perform for Evelyn Erickson's 86th Birthday Bash

Austin, Texas. Two things Austinites love to celebrate: fabulous moms and great music.  Local singer/songwriter Sumner Erickson is throwing a two-pronged bash February 21st 5-8PM at Jovita’s to honor his incomparable mother on the occasion of her 86th birthday, and to celebrate his band the Texcentrics’ debut CD.

Formed in the summer of 2005, the Texcentrics (Sumner on guitar and vocals; brothers Mo and Geno Gottschall, lead guitar and bass/keys/backing vocals; and Buddy Forsythe, drums) make Texas music, pure and simple.  Inspired by legendary Lone Star icons such as Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, and Sumner’s big brother psychedelic innovator Roky Erickson, the Texcentrics are committed to finely crafted songs played to fill dance floors and touch souls.

Evelyn Erickson’s life story reads like a comic book in which the heroine tackles one new challenge after another—because nobody dare say she couldn’t!  Classically trained soprano, yoga practitioner of 45+years, peace activist, a mother of five boys, dancing queen and over all unstoppable force, Ms. Erickson is primed to turn the leaf on another action-packed year.  Revelers of all ages welcome but should be forewarned—Evelyn slows down for nobody on the big dance floor of life!

The public is invited.  Please come prepared to celebrate a life well lived and still in the works while enjoying a fine batch of songs by a talented group of South Austin artists.
San Marcos’ own Stegosaurus Lips get the party started at 5:00.
