 The Oasis' famous decks
Shoreside and area restaurants surrounding Lake Travis. A day on the lake is sure to provide fun...and build a hearty appetite. A cold beverage is often the appetizer of choice after a sun-filled outing. Beyond that, the options become wide open. From instant gratification pub grub to intricately prepared fine dining, Lake Travis has become a top notch dining scene. Read below for a smattering of the restaurants that await you. (Listings marked with * denote they are accessible by boat.)
Carlos 'n Charlie's Carlos 'n Charlie's* Carlos and Charlie started this unique restaurant back in Mexico City; they were attempting to bring a whole new style to Zona Rosa yet bystanders were quite skeptical of their movement. The restaurant started as a swanky, posh place to dine and quickly converted to the motto “No shirt, no shoes, no problem!” The owners realized once they established the Austin, TX location of Carlos n Charlies that people gravitated more towards the laid-back lifestyle. Patrons from all over the world visit the infamous Carlos n Charlies for their sinful frog dip, lip smacking carlos sauce, serene view of Lake Travis, rockin’ bands and mouth-watering drinks. The Oasis With one man’s burning passion to build the best stage for sunsets in Texas, Beau Theriot created The Oasis restaurant nestled in the cliffs above Lake Travis. His natural knack for design helped this one-of-a-kind eatery become an instant classic. Not only can patrons look forward to the food and drinks, but the view is killer; watching the blazing Texas sun set behind the glistening lake below has become a “to do” in Austin since 1982. The entire town gasped in 2005 when lightning sparked a fire that destroyed 80% of The Oasis’ famous decks. But this tragedy did not stop Theriot. He re-opened the Oasis in three days and began reconstruction immediately. Now this restaurant seats more than 2000 people (with fire-safe stone decks, mind you). A convertible indoor/outdoor stage features classic rock on Saturdays and a widely popular salsa night on Sunday. |
