austin art garage opens new exhibit space, celebrates two years of supporting local art!
AUSTIN ART GARAGE, A GALLERY SPECIALIZING IN art FROM EMERGING AUSTIN ARTISTS, IS LAUNCHING A NEW EXHIBIT space THIS SEPTEMBER DUBBED “Austin ART GARAGE EXHIBIT.” The focus of Austin Art Garage Exhibit is to offer artists an opportunity to show a range of their work and to create a flexible space for conceptual projects and events. The new space, adjoining the gallery proper, approximately doubles the original size (over 1000 sq ft. including outdoor show area). Since the gallery’s initial opening two years ago this July, owners’ Jake Bryer and Joel Ganucheau made a decision not to seek bank loans or outside funding. Bryer states, “It’s scary operating your first business during unsteady economic times; we wanted to keep our costs low so we can weather bad months and keep our art prices reasonable. We haven’t had the funds to expand as quickly as we’d like to, but thanks to steady growth and new and veteran collectors committed to supporting local art, we’ve finally been able to expand without incurring any significant debt. We’re grateful our message to support local emerging artists was received and continues to build traction.” The opening celebration will kick off September 10th with a selection of works by illustrative artist Catherine Hart. AAG currently has six months of shows booked for the Austin Art Garage Exhibit. More information on these upcoming shows can be found at http://www.austinartgarage.com/calendar.html.
