Saturday night June 20th the Meat puppets seized the Parrish. Mr. Meat and his puppet people took around ten years off but they back now and have been touring furiously. At first as I listened I felt them starting to creep up on me and slowly chip away at my will to survive. I was momentarily dazed as they seared off my ears but then quickly glued them back on as they swooped downward into what I could almost swear was a sensitive slow piece with tight harmony vocals.
Then instantly they blasted their way through back into their own unique blend of slicing twangy guitars and cement truck drums. At the Parish the sound man must love bass guitar because there were sections when it drowned out the vocals/guitars/most of the drums. No matter though The Meat Puppets aren’t worried about whiney nuances they are there to mow you like dry grass in a field....and they did...good job men!
