Saturday, June 6... Rock My Soul will bring all of Conspirare’s Company of Voices on stage together for the first time for a jubilant program of spirituals. Singing alone and together, Conspirare ( the professional chamber choir), the Conspirare Symphonic Choir and the Conspirare Youth Choirs will focus mainly on music which finds its roots in the African-American spirituals tradition and will include many of the most passionate and stirring settings of those extraordinary songs. The program also will include music which shares a common and related core of expression, such as West African chant, American blues, and music and words inspired by American slam poets. Rooted in the deep and expressive spirituals tradition, and yet presented alongside selected contrasting musical styles and presented by classical choirs, the concert promises to be a vital and dynamic musical experience, as well as a highly engaging cultural conversation. BOTH PERFORMANCES WITH SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST HANNIBAL LOKUMBE.
