The main room is downstairs - a large space with a concrete floor and mirrored wall, while upstairs (Buzios Room) has a nice wooden floor and reasonably sized dance area. The crowd for live music (The Brew) on Thursdays peaks around 11:30 and is usually large.
Main Room: The Brew (10pm) ? recommended
The Brew is Austin?s very own (and loved!) live Latin band playing a mix of salsa, cumbia, merengue, cha cha y m?s. These guys have been around for years and their passion for Latin music is stronger than ever. Some of you might remember them from back in the day on Thursdays at Miguel?s La Bodega.
Buzios Room: Noche de Tango, 9pm, live band Come out and let the passion of the milonga intoxicate you!
Bongo?s 505 Neches Street
DJ music starts around 10pm, no cover
This is an 18 & up club. The younger crowd filters in around 11:30pm and the music shifts from predominantly salsa y merengue to Latin pop. Some salseros prefer this club over Copa on Thursday nights, but they do get there early to take advantage of more dance space. Be forewarned: if you are looking for a casual, more mature salsero crowd and more room to dance into the late hours, this is probably not the best venue for you.
