Sounds Fun Night @ Black & Tan Want to go out tonight and can’t think of anything that sounds fun? Black and Tan thinks they can win you over with a rotating cast of popular Austin DJs spinning electro, house, techno, disco, and more. Of course, there have to be drink specials, and Tuesdays you can find Happy Meals (Lone Star tallboy and shot of Jager) for $5, $2.50 wells, $2.50 Lone Stars, and $2.50 Jager. Sounds pretty fun. Black & Tan Lounge / 405 E. 7th St.
Soooo Last Century @ Elysium No Cover / 9:30pm-2am The chance to party like it’s 1999 every Tuesday with ’90s night, featuring DJs Boba Fett & Minimus. Elysium / 705 Red River St. / 512.478.2979
Ladies’ Night @ Fuel For a little more raucous Tuesday night head downtown to Fuel for Ladies’ Night. Though this isn’t your typical singles scene, $2 you-call-its for the females makes the evening a little more interesting. Don’t worry fellas, Fuel’s regular prices are reasonable enough that you don’t have to go home broke either. Fuel Nightclub / 607 Trinity St. / 512.472.8557
TNT Tuesdays @ Merkaba Hey Northies, don’t feeling like driving all the way downtown, even though gas prices have dropped? Head over to Merkaba Lounge & Grill to see the TNT Brothers on four turntables. They also have dynamite drink specials (yeah, we said it): $2 beers, $3 calls, free parking, and a full kitchen. Merkaba also hosts an all request sing-a-long piano bar starting at 8pm. You’ll be belting out to your heart’s content with $3 you-call-its all night. Merkaba Lounge & Grill / 14106 N. I-35 / 512.670.0404
Trivia Tuesdays @ Mother Egan’s No Cover / 7:30pm-10ish Here’s a chance to get a little mental stimulation on your Tuesday. This Irish bar’s Pub Quiz is one of the most popular in town, as it’s free to participate, and pints and appetizers are on special. Prizes go to those with the biggest brains. It’s recommended to get there early so you can grab a seat; it fills up fast, and you could make it in time for Mother Egan’s happy hour (4-7pm Monday through Friday, $1 off all pints and wells). Mother Egan’s Irish Pub / 715 W. 6th St. / 512.478.7747
S.I.N. Night @ Prague No Cover / 10pm-4am Hey service industry folks—had a long weekend of work and need somewhere to unwind? You probably can’t beat S.I.N. at Prague, since you can get a free bottle (compliments of 42 Below vodka). For those of you who aren’t in the service industry, you know you want to party with them (those folks know how to have a good time). Plus, the GoGo Gadgets dancers and DJ Kurupt will pick up any slack where the crowd leaves off. Contact Derek Shull to make a table reservation. Prague Nightclub / 422 N Congress Ave / 512.472.2483
Open Mic Poetry @ Ruta Maya’s No cover / 6-9pm Nightlife doesn’t always have to be about boozing it up, either. Especially if you’re looking for something to do on a work night. Ruta Maya hosts one of the longest running weekly open mics in Texas. No cover makes this laid back yet stimulating evening even more appealing. And if you really need a beer, they have a pretty good selection. For a list of more poetry events in Austin, click here. Ruta Maya Coffeehouse / 3601 S. Congress Ave / 512.707.9637
Karaoke @ Shakespeare’s Pub No Cover / 10pm-2am Karaoke clubs and nights are beginning to pop up more and more in Austin, but you will certainly not find a more fun bunch of loudly (and usually poorly) singing drunks than at Shakespeare’s Pub. Most of the regulars don’t need any liquid courage, or the songbook for that matter, but if you do, the $2 Long Islands are your best bet. Shakespeare’s Pub / 314 E. 6th St / 512.472.1666
Tag Team Tuesday @ Shiner’s Saloon If you want to give your friends from out of town a little Texas hospitality they hear about, but don’t want to put on actual boots, take them to Shiner’s Saloon for Tag Team Tuesday. You get $2 pint drafts, $3 drink specials, and 40% off all appetizers. And no, Tag Team does not mean that crappy ‘90s duo from Florida—it’s DJ Tetsuo & DJ Silver spinning hip-hop and dance music all night long. Shiner’s Saloon / 422 N. Congress Ave / 512.448.4600
