Founded in 1957, the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin has evolved into a world renowned cultural institution. Throughout 2007, the Ransom Center commemorates its 50th anniversary with programs and exhibitions dedicated to "Celebrating the Imagination."

Saturday Jan.13th at the St. David Episcopal Church I was lucky enough to catch the 10:00 show of Phil Brown's Jimi Hendrix tribute. Last year I was in the right place at the right time and was given a copy of THE JIMI PROJECT! and I've been very curious about seeing this done live. As far as I know this is the first local performance. |

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Unfortunatly due to Austin area weather, all Martin Luther King Jr. Day festivities in Austin have been cancelled today. San Marcos has also cancelled its commemorative march. MLKcelebration.com has more information on when the cancelled events will be held.

From January 20 through February 10, the South Austin Museum of Popular Culture will host a retrospective exhibit featuring 30 years of posters that were created to publicize Carnaval Austin. The exhibit opens with a reception on January 20th, at 7:09pm with food & drink & music.
