Visit Lake Travis. If you are new to Austin, Lake Travis is west of Austin. Lake Travis has many public Parks and is considered a recreational lake. Mansfield Dam, built in 1946 created this rock bottom lake surronded by the Austin Texas hills.

austin is wierd!

I moved down there in 04 and left in 06 and I fell in love with all the fun things that it has to offer and one of the best things to visit is the lake. I loved it, even though I never got in it because I don't know how to swim, but I loved it and this summer I'm going down there again.
